About Lockview Public School

Lockview Public School is a Kindergarten through Grade 8 school, located in east St. Catharines on Bunting Road. The schools in the District School Board of Niagara are grouped into six geographic areas. Our school is in Area 4 and we have approximately 400 students in attendance.

We officially opened as a Kindergarten to Grade 6 school in 1966. Lockview was expanded to include Grade 7 and 8 in September 1994 when Scottlea School closed its doors. The school went under construction in 2002 to add a new wing in order to accommodate the Maplewood School students when they closed their doors. In 2014 a second addition containing two state of the art Kindergarten classrooms was added to the south end of the school to house the new full day Kindergarten Program.

Lockview provides a rich and varied program in language arts, math, French, science, the arts, and social sciences. Students participate in experiences and opportunities which encourage the development of excellence, integrity, tolerance, respect and a sense of social responsibility.

Like all other schools within the District School Board of Niagara, Lockview is committed to personal growth, productive citizenship and lifelong learning for all. In addition, the school has an active extracurricular program for our students, along with a variety of intramural and club activities organized and supervised by our staff.

We are lucky to be a part of a closely knit and supportive community. In the past few years, the staff and School Advisory Council have worked together to inform and educate the community about educational changes involving curriculum, assessment and reporting. Students at Lockview benefit from a wide range of experiences that enrich their school life.
